Modern facility brings high-capacity storage to Koreatown

April 22, 2026: Banner Storage Group LLC, an affiliate of Banner Real Estate Group, has opened Catalina Self Storage in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The newly developed seven-story facility, located at 627 S. Catalina St., spans approximately 166,000 square feet and features 1,500 climate-controlled storage units. The property will be managed and branded by Extra Space Storage.

Developed on a 0.56-acre infill site, the project sits directly above an active LA Metro Purple Line tunnel. This required strict structural load considerations, limiting the possibility of higher-density construction.

The project team includes SGW Architects as the design firm and ARCO/Murray as the general contractor. Structural engineering was provided by Martin & Martin Inc., while civil engineering was handled by Blue Peak Civil Engineering. Geotechnical engineering and coordination with metro authorities were managed by Langan.

Based in Chicago, Banner has developed more than 25 multifamily, self-storage, and senior living projects, with a combined value exceeding $2.3 billion.
