Irondequoit, which is just north of Rochester, N.Y., has seen a resurgence of new businesses. “This area is really starting to grow quickly. It's exciting to be able to offer a state-of-the-art storage facility not previously seen in this community,” Schnitzer said.

The three-story building that formerly housed Katz Floor Coverings and Carpet had been vacant for several years, the release stated. “The Town of Irondequoit was ecstatic with our refurbishing of what had become an eyesore in the community. The town is working with us and loves the planned renovations,” said Todd Schnitzer, president of the U-Haul Co. of Western New York.

The release stated that, the opening of the Irondequoit property was driven by U-Haul’s corporate sustainability initiatives, which support infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint.
